Chevrolet offers a wide variety of cars and crossovers as well as pickup trucks, while GMC offers utility vehicles and pickups exclusively. Here at Texas Truck Barn, we’re only concerned with the diesel offerings, which means we’re always on the lookout for used Chevy & GMC pickup trucks equipped with Duramax diesel engines here in Arlington TX.

Duramax diesel engines, of which there are three, are manufactured by a company called DMAX, which represents a joint operation between GM and Isuzu. For the Chevy brand, the Duramax engine is found in the Silverado and Colorado, while it can be found in the Sierra and Canyon on the GMC lineup.

What Duramax diesel engines are there?

Currently, there are both V6 and V8 Duramax engines in production. The former can be found in the midsize Chevy Colorado & GMC Canyon, while the latter powers the full-size pickup trucks, including the light-duty GMC Sierra 1500 & Chevy Silverado 1500 options, as well as their heavy-duty 2500HD & 3500HD options.
